How to Keep Your BlackBerry Safe

Comments (0)

RIM, the BlackBerry manufacturer, take safety for granted, and this is the reason why this SmartPhone has so many safety features. Just consider how much information you store on the cellphone, as you have permanent Internet and Messaging access, calendaring and appointment managing devices. Think for a second what would happen if someone will access all this private information. And also consider the fact the BlackBerry was firstly designed for government and military officials, so safety is in the limelight.

Keeping your BlackBerry safe means setting up a password. A very important issue when choosing your password is considering the keyboard your BlackBerry is equipped with. If you have a simple QWERTY keyboard, it is easier to remember the password, as each character is associated to a certain key. If your BlackBerry has a multi-tap keyboard, you should type the exact letter and not just press a certain key.

Here are the main steps you need to follow in order to set up your password:

- select Settings, then Options, from the Home screen and press the track-wheel
- select Security option and press the trackwheel
- select Password, press the track-wheel and then choose Change; here you have two options - Enabled or Disabled
- select Enabled, and make sure you have saved changes
- after saving the changed, you are required a new password; type the password and will be asked to type it again for security purposes

Make sure you will always remember your password, as your BlackBerry will ask you to type it every time you unlock the phone.
